This song reflects the warning signs that people in creative practices experience. Imposters Syndrome, self critique, self doubt - so many obstacles lie in our way mentally, let alone financially and physically.
Much the same as there is a firewatch to keep tabs on forest fires, there is a firewatch in the soul to keep tabs on our internal fires. Both the fires of passion, and the fires of doubt.
I wanted to highlight the mental space of creativity within the fires of it's creation, and the depths of its madness. I hope you find solace in the shared difficulties we all face.
lyrics
Don’t look at me
See me for all I am
Who am I but a shell of my self
Impression?
An ember of potential
Snuffed out by my own cold breath
You’re right, I’m not what I seem
I’m so much more
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
Don’t follow me
Tell me how worthy I am
Who are we but withering plants on the shelf
Ourselves?
Remember, you’re special
Just like all the rest
With light, my shadow is seen
A fraud, a liar, a thief,
A firestarter
(I’m not who I am to you)
So long as you keep dancing with yourself
Unapologetically
(Don’t look at me)
You’ll always have your own style
(I’m not who I am to you)
No one can move like you can
Not exactly
(Don’t look at me)
(I’m not who I am to you)
I know what’s coming, I’m ahead of my time
But then, there’s doubt
(I’m not who I am to you)
God, I’m just like everyone else
(I am who I am)
And that
(I am who I am)
That’s when I start to feel behind
(I am who I am)
But you know what?
(I am who I am)
I am who I am
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch
There’s gonna be
A firewatch

Special thanks to all of you for baring your soul, and sharing your impression of imposter's Syndrome, and what it means to be truly original. We are all originally part of this track, now.
Special thanks to Rosa for toughing out all of my insecurities and supporting me through it all. I wouldn't have finished this song without you.
I'm Sean, and I make weird music that you could stand to listen to. My influences are broad, and my playing style is
versatile. The entire musical landscape is my playground.

Ezra's music is honest and raw, simply presented, and a wonderful experience drawn from his personal growth. I had the lucky opportunity to contribute guitars to this album. Sean Emmett Thompson
